Supporting Our Community
For us, supporting mental health and wellbeing goes beyond the training room.
At BTG Training, we believe in getting involved with organisations, charities and campaigns that are making a difference to people’s lives. Over the years that has meant sharing our training skills, volunteering our time, fundraising, joining campaigns and sometimes simply turning up and lending our support.
Using our skills to make a difference
Sometimes the most valuable way we can help is by sharing the skills and experience we use every day.

The Woodpecker Project
The Woodpecker Project is a mental health charity that raises funds to train people in Mental Health First Aid, particularly within gyms and communities across the UK.
We’re proud to support their work by training their Mental Health First Aiders and supporting charity events whenever we can. It’s a partnership that allows us to use what we do every day to help build mental health awareness and confidence within local communities.
The Community Cupboard
The Community Cupboard is a volunteer-run, independent foodbank and support charity with hubs in West Kingsdown and Swanley, supporting communities across North West Kent.
As well as providing essential food and household support, the team connects people with partner agencies that can help with issues including debt and mental health.
We’ve been pleased to support The Community Cupboard by providing a complimentary places on our MHFAider® courses.

Lighthouse Charity
We’re proud to work as Associate Trainers for the Lighthouse Charity, which provides emotional, physical and financial wellbeing support to the construction community and their families.
Through this relationship, we’re able to contribute our training skills to an organisation whose commitment to mental health and wellbeing closely reflects our own.
Standing behind causes we believe in
Training is only part of the picture. We also believe in using our voices, showing up and supporting conversations that can help bring about change.

#DumpTheScales
Eating disorders don’t have a particular look, shape or size.
We joined Hope Virgo and fellow campaigners at the #DumpTheScales march in London, calling for better understanding, recognition and treatment of eating disorders.
Standing alongside people with lived experience, families and supporters was a powerful reminder of why challenging stigma and continuing these conversations matters.
The Jordan Legacy
Suicide prevention is something we care deeply about, both personally and through the work we do.
We’re proud to support the important work of The Jordan Legacy and have attended their events, including #HopeForLife in Harrogate, joining others committed to creating a society in which suicide prevention is everyone’s business.

Beder
In December 2021, we joined mental health and suicide prevention charity Beder in London to help distribute hundreds of care packages to people experiencing homelessness.
It was an emotional evening and one that stayed with us — a reminder that sometimes making a difference is simply about showing up, giving your time and connecting with another person.
Giving our time

Shout
During the Covid pandemic, we both trained as Crisis Volunteers with Shout, supporting people through its confidential text-based service during an extraordinarily difficult period.
We also supported Shout through fundraising and awareness campaigns, including #GetOutForShout and Say Hello.
Although we are no longer active Crisis Volunteers, we’re incredibly proud to have given our time to the service and to have played a small part in the support it provides.
Sometimes it’s about having a little fun too…
Over the years we’ve also got behind campaigns that raise money, start conversations and help keep mental health visible — sometimes involving hats, green outfits and the occasional red nose!
Making a difference, together
We know that no single person or organisation can change everything. But we also know that lots of people doing something can make a very big difference.
We’re proud to have supported these organisations and campaigns, and grateful for the people we’ve met along the way.
Small actions. Important conversations. Making a difference where we can.
